Dear Supporter,
This week, President Obama directly addressed the rising tension in Sudan and South Sudan and Sudan’s policy of aerial bombardment of civilians and denial of humanitarian aid. After your calls, emails and the arrests of George Clooney, United to End Genocide President Tom Andrews, Rep. Jim McGovern, human rights leaders and fellow members of Congress in an act of civil disobedience, we are beginning to succeed in focusing attention on the growing humanitarian crisis in Sudan. Your actions have helped to get us to this point. Now we need your help to keep building the momentum. Sudan’s declaration of war against newly independent South Sudan marks the beginning of the worst-case scenario that we at United to End Genocide feared when critical points of disagreement were not addressed prior to South Sudan’s independence. The escalating hostilities are having a terrible impact on civilians and the food emergency in border areas is at near famine levels. On Friday, April 27, our allies, activists and volunteers in the U.S. and abroad will spread the word about this crisis on Facebook. Please help us call attention to the emergency in Sudan and pass comprehensive legislation to address the urgent and growing humanitarian needs of the Sudanese people.
Be part of this global action. We’ll be counting on you this Friday! Sincerely, ![]() Rebecca Dennis Regional Field Organizer United to End Genocide |
