No Lobbyists for War Criminals

First, a former national security advisor accepted a $1.3 million contract to lobby for Sudan. Now it's surfaced that a prominent law firm requested permission to lobby for Sudan's genocidal government.

At this moment, the Treasury Department could still grant a waiver to lobbyists for Sudan. Fill out the form to the right to send the Treasury Department Office of Foreign Assets Control a message saying "No Lobbyists for War Criminals!"

I am writing to express my concern over the attempts of lobbying firm Nelson Mullins to receive a waiver from the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) in order to enter into a contract with the Government of Sudan.

As you know, the Government of Sudan is responsible for the genocide in Darfur which has claimed up to 300,000 lives and displaced over 2.7 million people. The sanctions, which OFAC enforces, were imposed by both the executive and legislative branch in order to ensure that no U.S. firm profits from this genocidal regime.

Nothing would fly in the face of Congressional intent more than allowing a U.S. firm to lobby Congress or the administration on behalf the genocidal regime in Khartoum.

I thank you for rejecting the initial application made by Nelson Mullins, but am concerned by recent news reports that suggest the firm may re-apply. I therefore urge you to instruct OFAC to reject any waiver applications made by any firm to conduct public relations or lobbying work on behalf of the Government of Sudan.
