Sudan's first multi-party elections in 24 years are scheduled for April 2010.

For too long, a military dictatorship has monopolized power and wealth in Sudan, committing genocide in Darfur and violently oppressing the rest of the country. The corrupt regime in Khartoum has at every turn blocked political reforms necessary for free and fair elections to take place. Given the current conditions in Sudan, the international community needs to ensure that the elections don't legitimize this genocidal regime.
