On July 26, we hand-delivered the petition below, with more than 42,000 signatures, to the Chinese Embassy in DC and to Chinese consulates across the country to urge China to use its influence to help end the violence in Darfur.

As Sudan's chief diplomatic sponsor and its largest foreign investor and trade partner, China is in a critical position to determine Darfur's future. China is also hosting the 2008 Summer Olympics, offering this powerful nation an unprecedented opportunity to shine on the world stage. This is a unique moment in which China has an opportunity to lead the world in action for Darfur.
